Getform Alternative
A form backend, rebranded to Forminit in 2026, with features spread across its tiers
Why Developers Move to Formboost
Formboost is a form backend: one form endpoint for any HTML, React or Next.js form, with email, Slack, Discord and Telegram delivery included on the free plan.
Features are spread thin across the tiers, so the plan you need is rarely the plan you are on — and the rebrand left docs and dashboards under two names. Formboost keeps four clear plans, native chat destinations from Free, and AI spam screening on every submission.
What Getform Does
Getform — operating as Forminit since a January 2026 rebrand — accepts HTML form submissions and layers notifications, spam protection and file uploads across its tiers.
Note: Getform rebranded to Forminit in January 2026.
What it costs to switch
Nothing, to start. Formboost's free plan covers 10 forms and 500 submissions a month with no card, and email, Slack, Discord and Telegram delivery are all available at that tier — one destination per form, so you can move one form across and keep it running for free while you check the submissions land where you expect. Custom webhooks start on Starter at $9/mo.

Getform vs Formboost in detail
In short
Getform now trades as Forminit, and its shape hasn't changed with the name: a free plan that covers 100 submissions a month, then a jump to $19/mo before webhooks, integrations or API access unlock. If you picked it for a side project and then needed a form to talk to something else, that jump is usually the moment you start looking.
Key takeaways
- •Forminit's free plan is 100 submissions/month; webhooks, integrations and its REST API all require Pro at $19/mo.
- •Formboost's free plan is 500 submissions/month across 10 forms, and Slack, Discord, Telegram and email delivery are included at that tier.
- •Custom webhooks on Formboost start at $9/mo, roughly half Forminit's first paid step.
- •Neither service imports your old submissions, so export before you switch.
What Forminit gives you, and where it stops
Forminit is a straightforward form backend with a clean dashboard, and the free tier is genuinely usable for a contact form that nobody expects much from. Its own pricing page sets out the ladder: free at 100 submissions a month, then Pro at $19/mo for 5,000, Business at $49/mo for 10,000, and Volume at $99/mo for 50,000.
The constraint developers hit isn't the submission count. It's that webhooks, third-party integrations and the REST API all sit on Pro and above. A form that only needs to email you is fine on the free plan indefinitely. A form that needs to notify a Slack channel, append to a sheet, or trigger anything at all is a $19/mo form from the first day it exists.
That is a legitimate way to package a product. It is also why the search for an alternative usually starts with "I just need this one form to post to Slack."
Where Formboost is structured differently
Formboost draws the free/paid line in a different place. The free plan covers 10 forms and 500 submissions a month, with no card and no expiry, and the three chat destinations plus email are included at that tier rather than held back:
| Formboost | Forminit (Getform) | |
|---|---|---|
| Free submissions | 500/month across 10 forms | 100/month |
| Slack / Discord / Telegram | Free plan | Pro ($19/mo) |
| Email notifications | Free plan | Free plan |
| Custom webhooks | Starter ($9/mo) | Pro ($19/mo) |
| Google Sheets, Zapier, n8n | Starter ($9/mo) | Pro ($19/mo) |
| Spam filtering | Heuristics free, AI screening from Starter | Built-in on all plans |
| First paid tier | $9/mo | $19/mo |
| File uploads | On the roadmap | All plans, 100 MB on free |
Two rows deserve honesty rather than a checkmark.
File uploads. Forminit has them on every plan and Formboost does not have them at all yet — they're on the roadmap, not shipped. If your form takes a CV or a photo, Formboost is the wrong tool today and no amount of pricing comparison changes that.
Webhooks aren't free on Formboost either. They start on Starter at $9/mo. The difference is the size of the step and what you get without taking it: Slack, Discord and Telegram delivery cover most of what people actually wanted a webhook for, and those are free.
What the spam filtering actually does
Formboost screens every submission, but the depth scales with the plan, and it's worth being precise because "AI-powered" gets used loosely across this category:
- •Free runs heuristics: disposable-domain checks, link flooding, honeypot hits, rate limiting per endpoint.
- •Starter adds an AI model that reads the submissions heuristics can't call either way, scoring them in the context of what the form is for.
- •Pro runs that model on every submission rather than just the ambiguous ones.
Each submission carries a score and a readable reason in the dashboard, so a false positive is something you can look at rather than guess about. There's no captcha to add and no honeypot to wire up, though the _honey field is there if you want one.
Forminit documents built-in validation and spam protection across all its plans. It doesn't advertise a model-based classifier, which is the substantive difference rather than a claim that its filtering doesn't work.
Moving a form across
The integration is an HTML form post, so in most cases the migration is one attribute:
<form action="https://formboost.app/f/YOUR_ALIAS" method="POST">
<input type="text" name="name" required />
<input type="email" name="email" required />
<textarea name="message"></textarea>
<button type="submit">Send</button>
</form>Field names carry through as the column names on your submissions, so your existing markup, styling and client-side validation are untouched. If you post with fetch instead, the endpoint accepts JSON and answers 202; an ordinary HTML form post gets a 302 to whatever you set in _redirect.
Two things worth planning:
- •Export your Forminit submissions first. Formboost doesn't import historical data from another provider, and the export is the one step that's awkward to reverse once an account is closed.
- •Run both for a few days if you can. Point a duplicate form at the new endpoint, confirm the submissions and notifications land where you expect, then switch the real one.
The full walkthrough is in the migration guide, and the endpoint's request and response shapes are in the API reference.
One thing Formboost does not have
There's no account API. The submission endpoint — POST /f/{alias} — is the only public API surface, and it exists to receive form posts, not to read them back. Forms, submissions and integrations are managed in the dashboard.
If your plan is to query submissions from a script, Formboost won't do that today, and Forminit's Pro tier will. That's a real reason to stay where you are, and it's better to know it now than after you've moved.
What to check before you switch
Decide on what the form has to do, not on the free tier's headline number:
- •A form that emails you and nothing else runs on Formboost's free plan with five times Forminit's monthly allowance (500 against 100).
- •A form that notifies a channel is free on Formboost and $19/mo on Forminit.
- •A form that accepts file uploads cannot move yet — Formboost's uploads are on the roadmap. Link to a hosted file in the meantime, or wait for the changelog entry.
- •A form whose submissions you query from code has no read API on Formboost; use CSV export or a webhook on Starter.
Formboost's free plan is built to be the one you actually run a project on rather than the one you evaluate on, and the first paid step is $9/mo when you need webhooks or a spreadsheet destination.
Pricing on both sides moves. The figures here were checked in August 2026 against Forminit's pricing page and Formboost's — worth a look at both before you decide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about switching from Getform
Can I keep my existing form HTML when moving from Getform?
Yes. Formboost accepts an ordinary HTML form post, so in most cases the only edit is the form's action attribute — point it at your Formboost endpoint and leave the field names as they are. Your markup, styling and client-side validation are unaffected, and the field names you already use become the column names on your submissions.
Will I lose the submissions already stored in Getform?
Formboost does not import historical submissions from Getform, so export them before you close the account — every provider offers a CSV export, and it is the one step that is awkward to undo. Formboost starts collecting from the moment you repoint the form, and you can run both endpoints in parallel for a few days if you would rather overlap than cut over.
How long does moving one form actually take?
Minutes for the form itself: create the endpoint, change the action URL, submit a test entry and confirm it appears in the dashboard. Reconnecting notifications takes longer than the form does — a Slack, Discord or Telegram destination is a pasted webhook URL, and Google Sheets is a Google sign-in.
Do I need a credit card to try Formboost?
No. The free plan covers 10 forms and 500 submissions a month with no card and no expiry, and email, Slack, Discord and Telegram delivery are all available at that tier, one destination per form — enough to move a real form across and run it before deciding anything.
