Formspree Alternative
An older form backend that gates webhooks and most integrations behind paid tiers
Why Developers Move to Formboost
Formboost is a form backend: one form endpoint for any HTML, React or Next.js form, with email, Slack, Discord and Telegram delivery included on the free plan.
Teams outgrow the free plan the moment a submission needs to reach anywhere but an inbox: webhooks and most third-party integrations sit behind paid tiers, and each destination is another add-on. Formboost puts Slack, Discord, Telegram and email on the free plan and keeps every submission in one dashboard.
What Formspree Does
Formspree accepts submissions from static HTML forms and forwards them by email. Anything beyond that — webhooks, CRM, spreadsheet and automation integrations — is an add-on on a paid plan.
What it costs to switch
Nothing, to start. Formboost's free plan covers 10 forms and 500 submissions a month with no card, and email, Slack, Discord and Telegram delivery are all available at that tier — one destination per form, so you can move one form across and keep it running for free while you check the submissions land where you expect. Custom webhooks start on Starter at $9/mo.
Formspree does not publish exact submission limits per tier on its marketing pages — check formspree.io/plans for current numbers before deciding. See the full pricing and feature comparison → · Formspree's current pricing →
Where Formboost Differs
Formboost's free plan includes Slack, Discord and Telegram delivery, not just email; custom webhooks start on Starter at $9/mo
A single unified dashboard for submissions, spam review, and integrations rather than a per-integration add-on model
Transparent published pricing without a separate sales conversation for common integrations
Built-in Slack, Discord, and Telegram notifications without a Zapier hop
The Formboost side, in detail
Form endpoint and submission API
How the endpoint answers an HTML post and a fetch() call, reserved fields, every response.
HTML form backend
A plain <form action> pointed at one URL — no PHP, no server.
React form backend
Submit from a component with fetch(); no API route.
Pricing and plan limits
Free forever on 500 submissions a month; paid plans from $9/mo.
Formspree vs Formboost in detail
In short
Formspree is the service that made "point your form at a URL" a normal thing to do, and its free plan still handles email notifications with spam filtering included. What sends developers looking is the gate above it: webhooks, Zapier and most third-party integrations sit on the paid plans, which start at $10/mo.
Key takeaways
- •Formspree's free plan covers email notifications, with Formshield spam filtering on every tier including free.
- •Webhooks, Zapier and CRM/newsletter integrations require a paid Formspree plan, from $10/mo.
- •Formboost's free plan is 500 submissions/month across 10 forms, with Slack, Discord and Telegram included; custom webhooks start at $9/mo.
- •Formspree has file uploads and a documented REST API and CLI. Formboost has neither.
What Formspree includes, and what it gates
Formspree's plans page is the current source for the numbers, and the free tier is more capable than most free tiers in this category: Formshield spam filtering runs on every plan, free included, alongside optional reCAPTCHA. File uploads are available across all plans too.
The gating is on the automation side. Webhooks, Zapier, and the wider set of integrations — CRMs, newsletter tools, support desks — are on paid plans. So a form that emails you works on free indefinitely; a form that posts to Slack or creates a HubSpot contact does not.
Formspree also documents a REST API and a CLI, which matters below.
Where Formboost draws the line differently
| Formboost | Formspree | |
|---|---|---|
| Free submissions | 500/month across 10 forms | Free tier with reduced feature access |
| Slack / Discord / Telegram | Free plan | Paid plans |
| Email notifications | Free plan | Free plan |
| Spam filtering | Heuristics free, AI screening from Starter | Formshield on all plans, incl. free |
| Custom webhooks | Starter ($9/mo) | Paid plans |
| Google Sheets, Zapier, n8n | Starter ($9/mo) | Paid plans |
| File uploads | On the roadmap — not available | All plans |
| REST API / CLI | None | Documented |
| First paid tier | $9/mo | $10/mo |
The paid tiers are within a dollar of each other, so price is not really the argument. The argument is what the free plan does: three chat destinations and 500 submissions across 10 forms, versus email delivery with spam filtering already handled.
Two things Formspree does that Formboost doesn't
Worth stating directly, because a comparison page that only lists wins isn't useful for deciding anything.
File uploads. Formspree includes them on all plans. Formboost has none — they're on the roadmap and not shipped. A form that accepts a file needs Formspree today.
A REST API and CLI. Formspree documents both. Formboost's only public API is the submission endpoint, POST /f/{alias}, which receives form posts and does not read them back. There's no account API, no CLI, no SDK and no MCP server. If your workflow involves pulling submissions into your own system programmatically, Formspree does that and Formboost does not.
An earlier version of this post claimed Formboost offered a free REST API and that Formspree had none. Both statements were wrong, in opposite directions.
What Formboost's free plan actually covers
- •500 submissions a month across 10 forms, no card, no expiry.
- •Email, Slack, Discord and Telegram delivery, all at the free tier.
- •Spam screening on every submission — heuristics on free, with an AI model reading the ambiguous ones from Starter and every submission from Pro. Each one carries a score and a readable reason.
- •JSON or form-encoded posts. Submitting with
fetchis not a paid feature:
const res = await fetch("https://formboost.app/f/YOUR_ALIAS", {
method: "POST",
headers: { "Content-Type": "application/json" },
body: JSON.stringify({ email, message }),
});
// 202 AcceptedOr as an ordinary HTML form, which answers with a 302 to whatever you set in _redirect:
<form action="https://formboost.app/f/YOUR_ALIAS" method="POST">
<input type="email" name="email" required />
<textarea name="message"></textarea>
<button type="submit">Send</button>
</form>Migrating
Both services take an ordinary form post, so the switch is usually the action attribute and nothing else. Field names carry through as column names, so markup, styling and client-side validation are unaffected.
Two steps worth planning:
- •Export your Formspree submissions before closing the account. Formboost doesn't import them.
- •Overlap rather than cut over. Point a duplicate form at the new endpoint, confirm submissions and notifications arrive as expected, then switch the live one.
The detailed walkthrough is in the migration guide, and the endpoint reference is in the docs.
What to check before you switch
- •Does the form accept files? Formboost's file uploads are still on the roadmap, so a form that needs an attachment today should keep a link-to-file field until they ship.
- •Do you pull submissions into your own code? Formboost has no read API; the dashboard, CSV export and a webhook on Starter are how submissions leave it.
- •Does a submission need to reach Slack, Discord or Telegram? That is free on Formboost, and the most common reason teams move.
- •Several forms across side projects? Formboost's free plan covers 10 forms and 500 submissions a month, renewed monthly.
- •A form that only emails you runs on the free plan, with heuristic spam screening on every submission.
Pricing on both sides moves. These figures were checked in August 2026 against Formspree's plans and Formboost's pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about switching from Formspree
Can I keep my existing form HTML when moving from Formspree?
Yes. Formboost accepts an ordinary HTML form post, so in most cases the only edit is the form's action attribute — point it at your Formboost endpoint and leave the field names as they are. Your markup, styling and client-side validation are unaffected, and the field names you already use become the column names on your submissions.
Will I lose the submissions already stored in Formspree?
Formboost does not import historical submissions from Formspree, so export them before you close the account — every provider offers a CSV export, and it is the one step that is awkward to undo. Formboost starts collecting from the moment you repoint the form, and you can run both endpoints in parallel for a few days if you would rather overlap than cut over.
How long does moving one form actually take?
Minutes for the form itself: create the endpoint, change the action URL, submit a test entry and confirm it appears in the dashboard. Reconnecting notifications takes longer than the form does — a Slack, Discord or Telegram destination is a pasted webhook URL, and Google Sheets is a Google sign-in.
Do I need a credit card to try Formboost?
No. The free plan covers 10 forms and 500 submissions a month with no card and no expiry, and email, Slack, Discord and Telegram delivery are all available at that tier, one destination per form — enough to move a real form across and run it before deciding anything.
