Basin Alternative
A five-tier form backend where webhooks and API access only unlock mid-plan
Why Developers Move to Formboost
Formboost is a form backend: one form endpoint for any HTML, React or Next.js form, with email, Slack, Discord and Telegram delivery included on the free plan.
Webhooks and API access do not unlock until the Growth tier, so the features developers came for sit two plans up. Formboost starts webhooks at $9/mo, includes Slack, Discord and Telegram on the free plan, and screens every submission for spam without a captcha.
What Basin Does
Basin accepts form submissions across five submission-based tiers, holding webhooks and API access back until the mid-range Growth plan.
What it costs to switch
Nothing, to start. Formboost's free plan covers 10 forms and 500 submissions a month with no card, and email, Slack, Discord and Telegram delivery are all available at that tier — one destination per form, so you can move one form across and keep it running for free while you check the submissions land where you expect. Custom webhooks start on Starter at $9/mo.

Where Formboost Differs
Formboost includes webhooks and API access starting from a lower tier, not gated behind a mid-level plan
Simpler plan structure — four tiers instead of five, with less feature fragmentation across them
Built-in Telegram integration in addition to Slack, Discord, and email
No separate overage-per-1,000-submissions pricing to calculate — plans scale in clear steps

Basin vs Formboost in detail
In short
Key takeaways
- •Basin's free tier is 50 submissions/month; webhooks and API access unlock at Growth ($24.17/mo).
- •Formboost's free tier is 500 submissions/month across 10 forms, with Slack, Discord, Telegram and email included.
- •Formboost's custom webhooks start at $9/mo; Basin's at $24.17/mo.
- •Basin has file uploads on every plan and Formboost has none yet, which is the clearest reason to stay.
How Basin's plans are structured
Basin's pricing page lays out five tiers. The free plan gives you 50 submissions a month with 100 MB of file storage and basic spam filtering. Starter is $12.50/mo for 250 submissions, Growth $24.17/mo for 1,000, Pro $30.62/mo billed annually for 5,000, and Agency $81.25/mo billed annually for 25,000.
Storage and volume scale steadily across those tiers, and file handling is available at every one of them, which is a genuine strength if your forms collect documents.
The catch for developers is placement rather than price: webhooks and API access both unlock at Growth. Starter, despite being a paid plan, doesn't include either. So the ladder for a form that needs to trigger something is free → $12.50 → $24.17, and only the last step actually does it.
How Formboost's plans are structured
Formboost puts the chat destinations on the free plan and starts its paid ladder lower:
| Formboost | Basin | |
|---|---|---|
| Free submissions | 500/month across 10 forms | 50/month |
| Slack / Discord / Telegram | Free plan | Paid plans |
| Email notifications | Free plan | Free plan |
| Custom webhooks | Starter ($9/mo) | Growth ($24.17/mo) |
| Google Sheets, Zapier, n8n | Starter ($9/mo) | Paid plans (Zapier, Sheets) |
| Spam filtering | Heuristics free, AI screening from Starter | Basic on Free/Starter, advanced on Pro/Agency |
| File uploads | On the roadmap — not available | All plans, 100 MB to 50 GB |
| First paid tier | $9/mo | $12.50/mo |
Be clear about what Formboost doesn't do
Two rows above are worth stating plainly rather than leaving in a table.
Formboost has no file uploads. They're on the roadmap and not shipped. Basin handles files on every plan including the free one. If your form takes a CV, a portfolio or a photo, Basin does something Formboost currently cannot, and that should end the comparison for that form.
Formboost has no account API. The submission endpoint, POST /f/{alias}, is the only public API and it exists to receive posts, not to read them back. Forms, submissions and integrations are managed in the dashboard. Basin's Growth tier gives you an API for querying submissions; Formboost does not have an equivalent at any price today. If your plan involves pulling submissions into your own system on a schedule, that's a real reason to choose Basin.
Anything you read elsewhere about a Formboost REST API for reading submissions — including in an earlier version of this post — was wrong.
What you get instead
The trade Formboost is making is that the things most people wanted a webhook *for* are free:
- •Slack, Discord and Telegram delivery on the free plan, configured with a pasted webhook URL from the destination side.
- •Email notifications on the free plan.
- •500 submissions a month across 10 forms, ten times Basin's free allowance, with no card and no expiry.
When you do need a custom endpoint of your own, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets, that's Starter at $9/mo — still less than Basin's cheapest paid plan, and well under the $24.17 where Basin's webhooks begin.
Spam filtering, precisely
Formboost screens everything, but the depth scales with the plan and it's worth being exact:
- •Free runs heuristics: disposable email domains, link floods, honeypot hits, per-endpoint rate limiting.
- •Starter adds an AI model that judges the submissions heuristics can't resolve, reading them against a description of what the form is for.
- •Pro runs that model on every submission rather than only the ambiguous ones.
Every submission carries a score and a readable reason, so a false positive is inspectable rather than mysterious. There's no captcha to configure.
Basin documents basic spam filtering on Free and Starter and advanced filtering on Pro and Agency, alongside honeypot and captcha support. The difference is the model-based layer and where the tiers sit, not that Basin's filtering doesn't work.
Moving a form
The integration is an ordinary HTML form post, so migration is usually a one-attribute edit:
<form action="https://formboost.app/f/YOUR_ALIAS" method="POST">
<input type="text" name="name" required />
<input type="email" name="email" required />
<textarea name="message"></textarea>
<button type="submit">Send</button>
</form>Your field names become the column names on the submissions, so existing markup, styling and validation carry over untouched. Posting with fetch instead returns 202 with a JSON body; a plain form post returns a 302 to whatever you set in _redirect.
Before you switch: export your Basin submissions, because Formboost doesn't import them and the export is the step that's hard to undo later. If you can, point a duplicate form at the new endpoint and run both for a few days before cutting over.
The step-by-step version is in the migration guide, and the endpoint's exact request and response shapes are in the API reference.
What to check before you switch
- •Forms that collect files cannot move yet: Formboost's file uploads are on the roadmap.
- •Forms whose submissions you query from code need a different pattern on Formboost — there is no read API, so use CSV export or a webhook on Starter.
- •Forms that notify a Slack, Discord or Telegram channel are free on Formboost.
- •Forms under 500 submissions a month fit Formboost's free plan; Basin's free plan caps at 50.
- •Forms that need a custom webhook cost $9/mo on Formboost against $24.17/mo on Basin.
Prices on both sides change. These were checked in August 2026 against Basin's pricing page and Formboost's; check both before deciding.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about switching from Basin
Can I keep my existing form HTML when moving from Basin?
Yes. Formboost accepts an ordinary HTML form post, so in most cases the only edit is the form's action attribute — point it at your Formboost endpoint and leave the field names as they are. Your markup, styling and client-side validation are unaffected, and the field names you already use become the column names on your submissions.
Will I lose the submissions already stored in Basin?
Formboost does not import historical submissions from Basin, so export them before you close the account — every provider offers a CSV export, and it is the one step that is awkward to undo. Formboost starts collecting from the moment you repoint the form, and you can run both endpoints in parallel for a few days if you would rather overlap than cut over.
How long does moving one form actually take?
Minutes for the form itself: create the endpoint, change the action URL, submit a test entry and confirm it appears in the dashboard. Reconnecting notifications takes longer than the form does — a Slack, Discord or Telegram destination is a pasted webhook URL, and Google Sheets is a Google sign-in.
Do I need a credit card to try Formboost?
No. The free plan covers 10 forms and 500 submissions a month with no card and no expiry, and email, Slack, Discord and Telegram delivery are all available at that tier, one destination per form — enough to move a real form across and run it before deciding anything.
